Dad’s 80th Birthday Quilt

For Dad’s birthday, I collected outlines of hands from Dory, kids, kids’ spouses, grandkids, and kids’ and grand kids’ significant others. After machine stitching the hands, I added stitched names and put them into a grid with “bow-ties” in the corners.  The backing is a lightweight chambray and the whole thing is quilted between the blocks and around the triangles.  I have developed more dexterity with the presser foot and speed control, and had lots of time to listen to ebooks and music!

Hands were traced onto printer paper, then I sewed over each one, as well as the name. It took a while…
